Comic-Con: Bloggers and Podcasters Get Ready for Most Stressful Week of the Year
San Diego Comic-Con is a great time to be a pop culture fan unless your job is to write about these things, in which case SDCC represents a looming mountain of fear.
As pop-culture fanatics converge on San Diego for the annual San Diego Comic-Con, there’s an air of excitement and anticipation. However, it’s not all fun and games for movie fanatics. With dozens of trailers and announcements flowing in every single hour, movie bloggers, YouTubers, and podcasters are all getting prepped for what is sure to be a weekend of stress, deadlines, and panic.
We spoke to YouTuber Kyle D’Aminico about his plans for the week, and he spoke to the stress felt by those in the industry.
“Every trailer needs a breakdown, every announcement needs a reaction, every rumour needs a discussion, it’s too much. There’s no way that a sane human being can possibly cover even a quarter of what goes on at Comic-con while maintaining a solid level of sleep”.
With trailers for Aquaman, Shazam, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and more all rumoured to be dropping, bloggers everywhere are buying instant coffee by the truckload in order to have enough energy to cover it all.
“What am I going to do, not make a reaction video for an Iron Fist trailer?”, said D’Aminico, “give me a break”.
People need content, and its the content providers who suffer, at least during the four days of SDCC.
So, as you consume the millions of articles, thousands of videos, and hundreds of podcasts that cross your social media feeds this week, spare a thought for the stressed out nerds making it for you.
